Just your ordinary gay bipolar autistic autodidactic secular-humanist weirdo geek.
Has lived and loved in south Texas, Los Angeles, and Dublin, Ireland.
Became a widower at 32 when my husband, Barry, died in 2007.
Used to be a photographer.
Lost it. Trying to get it back.
Been online before the web existed, and blogging before that word existed.
Wrote Greymatter, the first big standalone blogging software. It made my life more interesting than I was ready for, but at least it inspired WordPress.
Worked as a creative consultant to Google for their Picasa photo software. Somehow managed to have my teddy bear, Thomas, become an easter egg in it.
Was raped by a teacher at the age of ten. Created the first online forum for male survivors of sexual abuse 15 years ago and became an occasional media advocate for the issue.
Has not met anyone in the flesh besides my family for three years.
Was once called “the Norma Desmond of the internet.” *
Loves books, fuzzy sweaters, film noir, Bach, videogames, Dr Pepper, winter, antique maps, monkeying around, meaningful silences, and owls.
Bald. Can’t sing. Dances a little.
A work in progress.
So damn lucky.
